General information about the manufacturer of Happy Cat food

In Germany, the Interquell GmbH company makes Happy Cat cat food. On the one hand, this boosts consumer confidence in the producer because animal products are subject to more stringent regulations in Europe. It’s a family-run business as well. The business was established in 1969. The proprietors are already familiar with the fundamental needs for food and are skilled at product promotion. This lessens the possibility that the brand will become famous overnight and that its merchandise will vanish from retail establishments.

Concurrently, the company produces dog food under the Happy Dog trademark.

Every food container has a logo.

However, the corporation’s primary source of profit comes from processing cereals and producing flour rather than from selling food. This raises questions about the products’ quality. It’s possible that the business chose to use unsold and wasted flour batches in order to boost profits.

Happy Cat cat food is made with premium ingredients to promote the general health and wellbeing of cats of all ages, giving them balanced nutrition. This brand guarantees that your cat gets the vital vitamins, minerals, and proteins for a healthy and active life. It comes in a range of flavors and formulas tailored to different needs.

Composition of Happy Cat food

We will assess each veterinary food product independently to determine its efficacy and safety for use with animals, as the manufacturer makes both.

Composition of dry food

The Supreme and Minkas product lines comprise the bulk of the brand’s inventory. Their quality varies. We shall therefore take a look at the ingredients of a few dry foods.

Supreme

The following ingredients are found in the typical Supreme food for adult cats that contains duck:

  • dried duck (23%);
  • rice flour (22%);
  • rice protein (19%);
  • poultry fat;
  • potato flakes (5%);
  • liver hydrolyzate;
  • fiber;
  • sunflower seed oil;
  • beet pulp (sugar free);
  • cranberries (0.5%);
  • sodium chloride;
  • yeast;
  • apple pulp (0.4%);
  • rapeseed oil;
  • potassium chloride;
  • seaweed (0.2%);
  • flax seed (0.2%);
  • yucca schidigera (0.04%);
  • chicory root (0.04%);
  • yeast (extracted);
  • milk thistle;
  • artichoke;
  • dandelion;
  • ginger;
  • birch leaf;
  • nettle;
  • chamomile;
  • coriander;
  • rosemary;
  • sage;
  • licorice root;
  • thyme.

The brand has premium feeds. The composition is average for this category as a whole: lots of cereals and little meat. The producer deserves recognition, though, for utilizing unusual ingredients. It is uncommon to find duck, rabbit, or venison in premium feeds. Nearly all of the names on the list are anonymous. There are numerous preventive additives in the food. Cranberries, for instance, assist in controlling the acidity of urine.

The manufacturer noted in the composition notes that the duck is only partially dehydrated—that is, even with water taken into account, it is still less than 23%.

Despite all the advantages, I would not give such food to my cat. Ducks in the feed are only 23%. In addition, duck is not always fillet and pure muscle tissue. The manufacturer can use internal organs or parts that are unsuitable for human consumption. Here we can only believe the corporation, but in any case, the proportion of meat for an obligate predator is too low. There are no other varieties in the feed, but there are several types of cereals and vegetables, and rice is divided into 2 positions. In fact, it is in first place. The feed can become a temporary alternative, but not the main product on the menu. Once my friend decided to save money: she transferred her cat from a super-premium diet to Happy Cat. At first, everything was fine, but after 2 months, the pet developed severe weakness. The veterinarian said that this could be due to a deficiency of animal proteins. After switching to the previous food, the cat"s condition returned to normal.

Minkas

The ingredients of a typical Happy Cat Minkas chicken meal are as follows:

  • poultry (29%);
  • wheat flour;
  • wheat;
  • corn;
  • poultry fat (5%);
  • potato protein;
  • fish;
  • beet pulp (sugar-free);
  • sunflower seed oil;
  • apple pulp.

Fish is included in the composition, but it’s not clear what kind of fish it is or what kind of tissue it is made of, so it can be disregarded.

The composition of this diet is noticeably worse. Anonymous bird is in first place. It is not known in what form it is added to the feed. If fresh or raw, then its share should be mentally reduced by 3-4 times, since. . water evaporates during the preparation of the diet. Next come 3 plant ingredients. Wheat is divided into 2 positions. In addition, there is potato protein, which allows to create the appearance of balance. There is a clear lack of animal amino acids in the food. The manufacturer does not use the safest grains: wheat and corn often cause allergies. In the long term, pancreatitis and diabetes may develop.

Composition of veterinary food

Happy Cat Vet dry food contains the following ingredients for cats that have dietary intolerances:

  • chestnut (40.5%);
  • quail protein (30%);
  • potato protein;
  • sunflower oil;
  • liver hydrolysate (
  • lignocellulose;
  • rapeseed oil;
  • sea salt.

The food copes with its main task well. Sources of carbohydrates, proteins and fats are represented by 1-2 ingredients. Many of them are exotic, so they are unlikely to cause allergies. However, the food cannot become the basis of the diet due to its meager composition. Meat ingredients should take first place, not vegetable ones. The manufacturer does not use whole meat, but isolated protein. In some cases, it is absorbed better, since it is already partially processed, but the stomach adapts to such a diet, which can cause problems in the future. In addition, sea salt is added to the food for some reason. Ideally, the animal gets sodium from other products, not from salt. The latter can irritate the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract and increase inflammation in case of allergies.

There is little to no meat visible in the granules, which appear light and dehydrated rather than fatty.

I can still suggest the food to people who are unsure of their diagnosis, in spite of all the drawbacks. We moved to this diet after my cat’s allergy was suspected. After two weeks, the symptoms totally vanished. We don’t do allergy tests in our city, so I had to hunt for the irritant on my own. The food helped me realize that my cat would benefit greatly from a diet high in potatoes, poultry protein, and sunflower oil. I started switching my pet to other, more balanced recipes as soon as the symptoms subsided in order to prevent the onset of gastrointestinal disorders.

Composition of wet food

The following ingredients were present in the canned food that contained chicken and turkey:

  • meat and meat products (turkey – 4.0%, chicken – 4.0%);
  • cereals;
  • minerals;
  • inulin (0.1%).

The excessive thickness of the sauce suggests that a thickener not specified in the composition was used.

This is a typical high-end dish. Using ingredients of questionable quality and having an entirely anonymous composition are distinguishing characteristics. One of the least expensive sources of animal protein is chicken. What else is there in the mixture of meat and offal if its portion, when combined with turkey, is only 8%? Most likely, the carcasses’ parts that are unfit for human consumption are used by the manufacturer. Furthermore, the kind of cereals is not mentioned. Depending on what ingredients are on hand at the plant at the time, the company might regularly alter the composition.

Advantages of Happy Cat food

Among the benefits are the following elements:

  • There are foods for kittens of different ages. The standard Supreme Kitten is suitable for babies from 5 weeks to 6 months, and the other varieties of diets from the line are for animals from 4 to 12 months.
  • Availability of treats. The corporation produces crunchy pillows for cats. However, it should be taken into account that the composition of treats is dominated by anonymous cereals, and the proportion and type of meat are unknown.
  • Presence of a veterinary line. However, there is a fly in the ointment here too. It is advisable to check the composition before purchasing, since the food can cause the development of diseases of other organs.
  • The percentage of ingredients is indicated. For premium food, this is a tangible advantage. The percentage ratio helps us understand how much meat the diet actually contains.

A treat can facilitate the switch to a new diet.

Happy Cat is a food brand that offers cereal-free wet food. These are typically pates, but there are also canned foods available. It is highly advised to review the composition beforehand, as it is not always evident what the manufacturer is working from when adding cereals to some foods and not others that are similar. If you are looking for grain-free food, it is better to choose other brands because there may be a typo in the ingredient list.

Disadvantages of Happy Cat food

The following elements are regarded as food drawbacks:

  • Veterinary food cannot be used constantly. The reason for this is the weak composition. With regular feeding of such food, there is a high risk of developing diseases due to the lack of animal proteins, the absence of meat in its natural form and an excess of cereals.
  • The diets contain too many cereals. They are used in food as a cheap filler. Grains increase the actual proportion of protein, but in fact, cats hardly absorb the nutrients from them. Adding cereals is one of the ways to reduce the cost of food.
  • High cost. You can find higher quality food at the same price.
  • The manufacturer uses ingredients of dubious quality. For example, the corporation often does not indicate the type of yeast or the type of meat. The company includes not pure fillet, but a mixture of offal.

Cost and availability of Happy Cat food

A kg of dry food costs roughly 300–600 r. Depending on the type. Minkas is the least expensive ruler. The average cost of SUPREME is around 450 r. for one kilogram. The veterinary line of feeds includes the priciest varieties. Food that was canned (400 g) cost 110 r, while paste (100 g) cost 80 r. One spider (weighing 100 g) costs 60 r.

Happy Cat food is hard to find in pet stores because the brand isn’t very well-known. We will need to place online orders or actively search for brand-name goods.
