However, the bear cub at the zoo not only lived but also put on 4 kg in just 5 weeks. The tiny infant was given to trainers Doug and Lynn Seuss to raise since the keepers were concerned about whether he would be able to survive in the wild alongside such fierce predators.

The pair has a long history of training wild animals. Their firstborn was born at that time, and the "parents" fed the two babies at once a porridge in a bottle.

Not by days, but by hours, Bart grew up. He weighed 150 kg and was already a true giant at 11 months old. On a family ranch, the baby was given a unique bear house for his first birthday. Bart wanted to spend more time in nature and stopped interfering with human dwellings.

TV series with Bart the bear

Bart started a major role in the television series "The Young Riders" in 1989. About three years were spent filming. The gifted Kodiak was able to land significant parts in the movies "White Fang" (1991), "The Giant of Thunder Mountain" (1991), and "Lost in the Badlands" (1990).

The next challenging job was in the television series "Red River" (1996), where Bart, in his characteristically fearsome and dangerous role, played a bear.

1994 is the most stellar year of actor Bart

Bart starred in the family drama Walking Thunder in the same year. A massive Alaskan Kodiak bear magnificently presented the legendary bear of the same name, the central character of the plot.

1998 – at the Oscar ceremony

Bart’s career was coming to an end in 1998. Despite his low-budget comedy role in "Together with the Deedles," he was able to attend the 70th Academy Awards. The Alaskan brown bear had already earned a place of honor among Hollywood’s elite by that point. He made four television appearances and received an invitation to the biggest movie industry gathering.

Wearing a bow tie, Bart emerged from the stage holding the precious envelope between his paws. The audience let out a loud cheer and was left in awe of the enormous bear’s amazing appearance.

Following the great triumph, young Bart became unwell. The poor guy needed immediate medical attention after it was discovered that he had cancer in his right paw. The poor bear had multiple intricate surgeries performed over the course of the next two years, but to no avail.

And the ill Bart needed to be put to sleep in May 2020!

The fabled bear persevered until the very end. While filming Brad Pitt’s documentary "Raising Grizzlies," the actor fell ill. The patient was unable to complete the task, so Bart Jr., who subsequently gained notoriety for his role in the movie "Game of Thrones," took his place.

In addition to his stature and strength, Bart the Bear made a lasting impression on Hollywood with his amazing ability to engage audiences. He became one of the most adored animal actors in history because of the distinct sense of realism his performances added to every movie in which he starred.
